Hello!

My name is Christie.

Last summer, I traveled to Tanzania to complete a microfinance internship with a program called ProjectsAbroad

While in Tanzania, I had the opportunity to talk with many female entrepreneurs about their businesses. Each day, I presented business topics such as budgeting and bookkeeping to the amazing businesswomen.

I also had the privilege of speaking one-on-one with business owners to interview them for micro-loan eligibility. I learned many invaluable lessons from my interactions with these women, and I treasure the wisdom of grit they imparted to me. I want to give back to the entrepreneurs who made my summer impactful.

While there, I recognized that business owners can utilize technology to further their businesses.

TechieForAfrica aims to collect used devices, particularly older versions of smartphones (for advancing businesses) and solar calculators (for initial start ups), that will be shipped to my former office in Tanzania and eventually distributed to some of the women I described above.

With technology devices, businesswomen can engage in social media marketing and do more effective market research. Those starting can utilize solar calculators for bookkeeping and budgeting without buying batteries.

As many of these women are the sole providers in their families, their business success is vital in supporting entire families.

Any help would be much appreciated.
